As a Linux Systems Administrator, you will execute pre-defined processes to support, administer, and maintain our Linux server environment. You will collaborate extensively with Technology teams to deliver stable and reliable Linux servers. You will focus on work that needs to be performed in the current iteration and planning work that needs to be performed 1-2 iterations in the future.
 

Job duties will vary upon assignment but may include:

  • Work on current tickets, problems, requests.

  • Participate in projects; work with application owners related to new services running on Linux servers; and work with application owners related to growing existing services running on Linux servers.

  • Participate in monthly Linux Server OS patching.

  • Create and maintain documentation on processes, procedures, and workflows.  Create technical documentation for stakeholders.  Automate routine tasks.

  • Participate in professional development activities.

  • Create and maintain provisioning templates; assist with provisioning of new virtual Linux servers, install, and configure Linux Server OS on physical servers.

  • Configure and maintain security on Linux servers via firewall rules, applying security baselines, and least privilege access.

We’ll also want to know you can demonstrate these attributes:

  • 2+ years of experience working with Linux servers running an enterprise level distribution, such as RHEL, SLES, or CentOS.

  • Experience with Linux server setup, deployment, and maintenance in a highly virtualized environment using secure remote administration protocols, such as SSH.

  • Experience with 1+ scripting language(s), such as Python, Bash, or PHP.

  • Experience with 1+ markup language(s), such as YAML or JSON.

  • Familiarity with modern operating systems, server platforms, and virtualization technology.

  • Experience with Linux automation tools, such as Ansible or Puppet.

  • Proficient in basic computer technologies, appropriate for an internet-based company.

  • Regular and predictable attendance.

  • Available to work outside normal business hours and/or on weekends.

  • Dedicated work ethic.

  • Exemplary customer service skills. 

  • Excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

  • Ability to translate technical language into general terms. 

  • Thrive in a highly cooperative work setting.

  • Passionate about furthering education through training and hands on experience.
