About The Role: 

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the construction, maintenance, and oversight of a specific knowledge area within the Engineering team. Depending on your assignment, you will provide superior technical expertise in one of the following areas:

  • Generic
  • Windows/VDI/Mac
  • Networking – including the support, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure, such as wired and wireless networks, routers, and switches, as well as ensuring network security and performance across cloud and on-premises environments.

Here’s a snapshot of what you’d be doing:

Generic

  • Create documentation about specific systems and store in a centralized repository.

  • Work with Systems Architects and other engineers to optimize network design and implement best practices for scalability and reliability.

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot wired and wireless network infrastructure, including routers and switches, to ensure high availability and performance.

  • Perform necessary upgrades and maintenance, following industry best practices where applicable.

  • Identify performance concerns and resolve with logging and monitoring tools.

  • Identify and resolve network performance issues using monitoring and diagnostic tools.Document network configurations, policies, and procedures, storing them in a centralized repository for reference.

  • Assist other teams within Technology through cross-training and/or administrative tools. 

  • Work with Systems Administrators to ensure that support tickets are completed in a timely manner. 

Windows/VDI/Mac

  • Work with Systems Architects and Mac Systems Administrators to ensure high reliability and performance in infrastructure environment.

  • Perform necessary upgrades and maintenance following industry best practices where applicable.

  • Create documentation about specific systems and store in a centralized repository.

  • Prepare, maintain, and uphold procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring end-user operations.

  • Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future end-user needs.

  • Document network configurations, policies, and procedures, storing them in a centralized repository for reference.

  • Assist other teams within Technology through cross-training or administrative tools. 

  • Work with Systems Administrators to ensure that support tickets and operational tasks are completed in a timely manner. 

Networking

  • Design, configure, and maintain wired and wireless network infrastructure for high availability and performance.

  • Troubleshoot network performance issues using tools like Wireshark.

  • Implement network security best practices, including VLAN segmentation and access control lists (ACLs).

  • Manage and optimize cloud and on-premises networking.

  • Perform network upgrades, patching, and maintenance while minimizing downtime.

  • Lead network capacity planning and performance optimization to support business growth.

  • Document network configurations, policies, and procedures in a centralized repository.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure a secure, efficient, and reliable IT environment.

  • 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator in an equivalent field of focus

  • Proven ability to manage an end-point environment in a scalable fashion

  • Ability to troubleshoot throughout the OSI model

  • Ability to communicate with 3rd party vendors to maintain system stability

  • Proficient in basic computer technologies, appropriate for an internet-based company

  • Regular and predictable attendance

  • Available to work outside normal business hours and/or on weekends
