Job Description

As an Underwriter, you will demonstrate proficiency and be a fully authorized FHA credit and collateral underwriter.

Depending on successful completion of various training modules and testing, this position will have the authority to underwrite some or all of the following loan criteria:

  • AUS and/or GUS supported (Approve/Eligible or Manual/Refer)

  • FHA Loan Product (purchase/refinance/streamline) FIXED or ARM

  • Loan Amount up to $1.5 million

  • W2 Wage Earner or All Self Employed

  • Credit and Collateral Review

  • Non-FHA Products (VA, USDA, Conventional, Bond, etc.)

What You'll Do: 

  • Accurately complete all required tasks associated with both the processing and underwriting aspects of assigned loan files. 

  • Ensure accuracy of documents, data and appropriate decision per guidelines, including timely correction of investor delivery violations and compliance reviews and audit requests. 

  • Identify and recommend alternative loan structures for viable financing solutions. 

  • Remain knowledgeable on company and industry guidelines/processes, participating in ongoing education as applicable.

  • Work files sent back from closing and make changes as needed. 

  • Communicate feedback on common mistakes and "want" conditions to build a stronger team.

  • Complete any required USDA training.
