Internships FAQ

Our internship program offers professional and personal development, as well as company exploration and social experiences. From 1-on-1 conversations with fellow VUers to group activities that showcase and immerse you in our values and culture, the program focuses on making you feel at home, helping you grow, and setting you up for success no matter where you go.

Internships are offered year-round! Fall, spring, summer — you name it, we got it.

At this time, all internships are expected to be on-site at our corporate locations in Columbia, Kansas City, Springfield, and St. Louis, Missouri.

If you're interning during your academic year, expect to work 15-20 hours a week between the hours of 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. During the summer, interns typically work 30-40 hours a week. Remember, you're a student first. We're flexible with your class schedule, and you will work with your manager to determine your schedule.

Nope! We have a wide variety of internship opportunities for students of many majors.

Our interns have the opportunity to experience several different areas of Veterans United, including accounting, business, finance, operations, people services, sales, marketing, and technology. Our internships are specifically for students currently enrolled in college.

Be yourself! We want to get to know you from your application and during your interview. Take a deep breath and try to put your nerves to the side. Our recruiters use your interview experience to match you with the best internship opportunity within VU, even if it's not the one you applied for.

Spend time reviewing our careers website, our LinkedIn page, and social media pages. Practice answering interview questions with a friend or family member and arrive or login to your interview on time.

Absolutely! We have many full-time employees who started as interns with us and have continued their career here.

Honestly, it depends on your department. A day in marketing is different than a day in technology. However, no matter what department you are in you will be getting real life experience.
